Stripe rewrote its company values about every 18 months, and dropped 'efficiency as leverage' once leanness became a constraint on growth. Listen

Grosser said Stripe's founders regularly reviewed which values to keep, which to discard, and what new behaviours needed a new value, because what got you here won't get you there. 'Efficiency as leverage' meant running very lean, finding ways to do more with less, and not throwing people at problems. After the first couple of years they realised the leanness was potentially rate-limiting, so that value was replaced.

“one of the things that Stripe was excellent at was rewriting its values every call it 18 ish months.”
