Vercel expects every new employee to ship something in their first week, as part of a culture of building in public and iterating. Listen
Grosser said Vercel's mantra is 'you can just ship things' and that the ability to ship can come from anywhere in the org. Because the company's roots are in open source, work happens in public, people comment on each other's work, and you have to be comfortable with feedback. Another value, 'iterate to greatness', favours acting and iterating over contemplating for a month. She said the result is autonomy paired with accountability.
“when somebody new joins Vercel, you're expected to ship something in your first week.”
